|Franck Perera Wins at Mont Tremblant. |
Franck arrived to Mont Tremblant and it was obvious that the Frenchman was happy with the track where the race was going to take place. The track, more as the European type layout and surface suited the driver’s preferences. The team could tell from that moment on that this was going to be Franck’s weekend to shine.
Qualifying One was a somehow a disappointment since on his flying lap he encountered a local yellow when the Sierra Sierra car of James Hinchcliffe lost a wheel and the departed item was dangerously sitting at the exit of the last corner.
Qualifying Two was a little of an uncertainty since rain kept menacing to show its power to slow the track down. Franck pulled a perfect lap and was able to record a lap 1.3 seconds faster than Friday’s provisional pole. The time was good enough to reward Franck with his first Pole Position of the season.
The start of the race was a perfect one for Franck. He immediately took command of the race and build a two second lead to Matos in second place. A full course yellow sent the pace car rolling and that evaporated the lead Perera had at that point. The ensuing re-start saw Frank taking the lead again. This time he remained unchallenged all the way to the checkered flag. At the end he built a 20.8 seconds lead to Matos who inherited second place after Giacomo Ricci, who developed fuel pick problems, dropped from second to fifth.
