2006 Champ Car Atlantic  Season Recap

Our season started reasonably well considering that the team only tested Danilo Dirani once in the old 014 chassis. That test took place in January. The sponsorship needed for 2007 didn’t materialize until March, about two days before the Fontana first official test of the new Swift 016.  In fact, the final contract between team and driver was signed only a few minutes before the first session at the all important Fontana test.

We were somewhat pleased with the results of the test since we knew that we were at disadvantage by starting so late.
It is true that everyone started testing the Swift 016 chassis at the same time. However, many other teams had the advantage of having worked with their drivers in 2005. Many others, tested for several  months with the Swift 014 chassis.
 It is no denial that the more engineers and drivers work together, their understanding, work relationship and trust in each other increases. That, translates into good results.

As the reader can see in our race by race reports, the season efforts had some up and downs. The positive is that in the second half of the season the car/driver combination had the speed to win races. Individual race results show a 3rd place podium finish, several fifth places and mostly top ten results throughout the season.
At mid season, two unfortunate retirements due to contact dropped us from a solid 4th place in the Championship Points to a 10th place. At the end, the Condor Motorsports entry closed the 2006 championship in a tie for 6th place and at one point deficit from 5th place.

Now our focus is on the 2007 Championship. We learned a lot about the car. We understand it and by doing so we can help our upcoming drivers.
We expect the 2007 Championship to showcase a repeat of our successful 2005 Winning Championship. Charles Zwolsman won the title in our car that year. We are very pleased that Condor Motorsports was instrumental in helping him climb the ladder to his present Champ Car Ride.
It is our goal and priority to accomplish the same with our 2007 drivers.
